The present invention relates to improved polymeric compositions having lasermarking properties, which compositions comprise a polymeric material, mica or a micaceous material, preferably coated with a metal oxide, and a metal sulphide preferably selected from the group consisting of cadmium sulphide, iron sulphide, zinc sulphide and mixed sulphides comprising cadmium, iron or zinc as one of the metals. Articles obtainable by processing these compositions, such as livestock ear tags, are also claimed as well as a laser marking process wherein such articles are used and marked articles. The method exhibits dark markings in the irradiated areas by a laser beam, which markings are of particularly excellent quality on pink, red, yellow, orange, lime green, lilac, mid to light blue or turquoise articles. |
