abstract A method of directly determining the amount of cholesterol esters in a total cholesterol amount through one measurement. The method for determining cholesterol ester amount is characterized by comprising a first step in which a cholesterol oxidase and a catalase are caused to act on a sample containing cholesterol and cholesterol esters and a second step in which a cholesterol esterase and a cholesterol oxidase are caused to act on the sample after the first step and the amount of the hydrogen peroxide generated is measured.
