abstract A compact hand stamp (10) is disclosed. The hand stamp (10) may include a platen (36) and corresponding marking structure (54) that can be moved between a rest position, where a design on the marking structure (54) is remote from a surface to be imprinted and is arranged at an angle of about 90 degrees with respect to the surface, and a printing position where the design of the marking structure (54) is in contact with the surface to be imprinted. The hand stamp (10) may also include a platen (36) having reinking ports (50 and 52) and a cover (64) mounted for slidable movement over the reinking ports (50 and 52).
