abstract An angioplasty balloon (1) including a non-deployable stent (2 or 102) to prevent or reduce the potential for slippage of the inflated balloon with respect to the vessel wall being treated. The non-deployable stent (102) has a proximal end (103), a distal end (104), and at least one extension section (112), at least one set of serpentine rings (114) and at least one set of elongation links (116) that allow expansion of the strut to accommodate the inflation of the balloon. The stent is made of a material so that the stent collapses upon deflation of the balloon (1).
