Compound of the general formula: (I) (wherein all of R1 to R4 represent hydrogen, or any one of R1 to R4 is hydroxyl while the rests are hydrogen; R5 is a linear or cyclic peptide; and n is an integer of 10 to 20) can inhibit the adhesion of vascular endothelial cells having been activated by stimulation of LPS or Lipid A and can suppress the cell proliferation of gram-positive bacteria. Therefore, the pharmaceutical composition comprising as an active ingredient the compound of the general formula (I) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof is useful for treating the diseases attributed to the activation of vascular endothelial cells or bacterial infection or proliferation. Further, the compound of the general formula (I) or salt thereof can couple with Lipid A, LPS or fungus having LPS as a constituent thereof, so that the same can be an adsorbent useful for removing of, contained in liquids, Lipid A, LPS or fungus having LPS as a constituent thereof. |
