abstract |
A silica-loaded granular rubber which comprises dry granules of a product of the co-coagulation of a rubber and silica particles. It is extremely reduced in dusting and is satisfactory in handleability and suitability for kneading. Also provided is an industrially advantageous process for producing the granular rubber. The silica-loaded granular rubber, which comprises dry granules of a product of the co-coagulation of a rubber and silica particles, is characterized in that it has an average particle diameter (D50) as measured by sieve analysis of 300 to 3,000 μm and that the proportion of granules in the range of D50±(D50×0.5) is 50 wt.% or higher. This silica-loaded granular rubber is produced by feeding a cake which is a product of the co-coagulation of silica and a rubber and has a water content of 40 to 80 wt.% to a drying machine comprising an indirect heating type vessel having a stirring blade and drying the cake while stirring it with the stirring blade. |
