The invention relates to compounds and the complexes formed thereby with a lanthanide and use of the complexes for fluorescence or NMR-imagery marking. The complex comprises an Ln ion and a R<2> C(X R<1>) (R<3>) NR<4>R<5> ligand, where R<1> is a functional group, X is a single bond or a hydrocarbon chain, comprising at least one alkylene or alkenylene group with optionally at least one heteroatom or an arylene, R<2> is an anionic group A<2>, or a C1-C4 alkylene or alkenylene with at least one such group A<2> and optionally comprising at least one heteroatom, R<3> is H or a C1-C5 alkylene or alkenylene, optionally comprising at least one heteroatom and optionally having at least one anionic group A<3>, R<4> is a light-absorbing substituent forming cyclic chelates with Ln and R<5> is a substituent forming cyclic chelates with Ln. |
