abstract This invention relates to an environmentally safe fungicide and methods of use. This fungicide includes an effective concentration of an alkyl ester of lactic acid. As the lactic acid alkyl ester, an ethyl lactate will preferably be chosen. The reduction in fungal contamination is obtained by applying the fungicide of the invention to a substrate.
