titleOfInvention Litchi sinensis extracts containing oligomeric proanthocyanidins
abstract Disclosed are plant extracts containing at least 15 percent by weight of oligomeric proanthocyanidins of type OPC A2, the percentage being in relation to the active substance content. Said plant extracts are obtained by (a) subjecting peels of litchi sinensis fruit to an extraction process with low, optionally aqueous aliphatic alcohols, (b) optionally subjecting the extracts to chromatographic separation following concentration and/or filtration, (c) subjecting the OPC A2-rich fraction produced during chromatography to liquid/liquid extraction, and (d) separating the resulting organic phase. Also disclosed is the use of the inventive plant extracts for producing nutritional supplements and cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparations.
