abstract | The present invention is directed to a method for recovering a precious metal from a precious metal-containing material using a leaching agent and one or more oxidants. The leaching agent is preferably thiosulfate and the oxidants one or more of chlorite (ClO2-), chlorate (ClO3-), bromate (BrO3-), iodate (IO3-), ferric oxide (Fe2O3), chromate (CrO42-) and manganese dioxide (MnO2). The invention is particularly suitable for in situ mining or leaching of precious metal deposits. |
