abstract It is intended to provide a composition containing a higher fatty acid derivative, which can be easily produced at a low cost, is efficacious as a preventive/remedy for osteoporosis induced by various factors such as dieting and food restriction, has a high safety and can be regularly taken, and foods and drinks containing the same which are efficacious as preventives/remedies for osteoporosis induced by various factors such as dieting and food restriction and are appropriate for hospital diets, health foods and drinks, feeds and so on. The composition containing a higher fatty acid derivative as described above is characterized by containing at least one higher fatty acid derivative and being used as a preventive/remedy for osteoporosis. It is favorable that the higher fatty acid derivative contains octacosanal. The foods and drinks as described above are characterized by containing the above composition containing a higher fatty acid derivative.
