A process for producing an optically active N-monoalkyl3-oxo-3-arylpropylamine compound represented by the formula (3): (wherein symbol * indicates an asymmetric carbon atom and R1 represents optionally substituted C1-5 alkyl), characterized by asymmetrically reducing a (Z)-protected-N-monoalkyl-3-oxo-3-arylpropenylamine compound represented by the formula (1): (wherein Ar represents optionally substituted aryl, etc.; R1 is the same as defined above; and R2 represents an amino-protecting group) with an asymmetric catalyst to give an optically active compound represented by the formula (2): (wherein symbol * is the same as defined above) and successively eliminating the protective group. |
