abstract A method for permanently marking a medical device substrate includes selecting the medical device substrate and forming one or more recesses on the device substrate. Each recess defines a cavity having a recess opening which defines an opening area and one or more walls. A marking material is applied to the one or more recesses and is cured. After curing, the marking material is mechanically and adhesively secured to the substrate.
