| abstract | The invention relates to a coin-operated gaming device comprising a plurality of coin-operated gaming machines or independently functioning betting stations which, and a data processing system connected to coin-operated gaming machines or betting stations at least temporary in the framework of a two directional data communication of a data transmission network. Game data, in particular a jackpot database are managed in a data processing system which makes it possible to update said game data on the basis of input game data received from the coin-operated gaming machines or betting stations. The data communication comprises a transmission of actual state of bets or the actual jackpot state of the coin-operated gaming machines which are provided with display systems for displaying said jackpot state. The data processing system is embodied in the form of an IP network server. Mobile telephone terminals are associated with at least one part of the coin-operated gaming machines, and the connection of a mobile telephone network is associated with the IP network server in order to ensure a wireless packet-oriented data telecommunication/communication in the form of a quasi-permanent data transmission network link between the coin-operated gaming machines and the IP network server on a public mobile telephone network in such away that the updating and the transmission of the actual state of bets and/or the actual jackpot state is carried out essentially in real time. |
