abstract A sample containing a nucleic acid is dissolved in a buffer containing a surfactant and a base. The solution is heated, and the heated solution is subjected to gel filtration to thereby obtain a fraction containing the nucleic acid. In this manner, a nucleic acid can be isolated from a sample simply, easily, rapidly, with high yield and in a form suitable for PCR amplification.
