abstract The present invention relates to a method for identifying neuron types capable of specifically evoking slow IPSP. Thus, the present invention relates to a method for identifying an agent, preferably a compound capable of modulating or eliminating either the activity of or postsynaptic slow inhibition evoked by the identified cells. Moreover, the invention relates to compounds identified by the method of the invention, compositions comprising the said compounds, methods for the treatment or prevention of conditions related to slow inhibition and uses of a cell culture comprising predominantly cells specifically evoking slow IPSP. The cells specifically evoking slow IPSPaccording tothe invention are preferably neurogliaform cells.
