Ethylene polymer and application thereof to moldings |
abstract |
An ethylene polymer which contains 0.01 to 1.20 % by mole of constituent units derived from an α-olefin having 6 to 10 carbon atoms and which exhibits in the cross fractionation chromatography (CFC) the following characteristic: (1) the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of the components eluted in the temperature range of 73 to 76°C does not exceed 4,000 or (2) the relationship (Eq-1) is satisfied: Sx / Stotal < 0.1 (Eq-1) [wherein Sx is the total area of the peaks assignable to the components eluted in the temperature range of 70 to 85°C and Stotal is the total area of the peaks assignable to the components eluted in the temperature range of 0 to 145°C]. The ethylene polymer is excellent in moldability and can give moldings excellent in mechanical strengths and surface appearance. |
