abstract The invention relates to a device for sterilising instruments, said device being embodied in such a way that the operation of the UV lamp can be monitored. To this end, a sensor (44) is associated with the UV lamp (2). A device (64) for monitoring the intensity of the radiation emitted from the UV tubes is connected to the output of the sensor (44). Said device also comprises a detector (16) for the instruments (4) introduced into the device, said detector being connected to a device (49) for controlling the UV tubes.
