titleOfInvention Detection of pathological prionic protein in the olfactory epithelium of subjects affected by sporadic creutzfeldt-jakob disease
abstract An immunological test procedure is described for the detection of the pathological prion protein (PrPSc) in a biological sample of a subject suspected of being affected by sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. The procedure of the invention, which is based on the use of a monoclonal antibody specific for the protein PrP, is characterised in that the biological sample on which the immunological test is performed is a sample of olfactory mucosa.
