abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing aqueous formulations, which is characterized in that at least one cyclic compound of general formula I is heated in the presence of water and an acid catalyst, and H-X-R<3> is at least partly isolated during or following the heating process. The variables in formula I are defined as follows: X is selected among oxygen, sulfur, and N-R<6>; R<3> and R<6> are identical or different and are selected among C1-C12 alkyl, C3-C12 cycloalkyl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, C7-C13 aralkyl, C6-C14 aryl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, formyl, CO-C1-C12 alkyl, CO-C3-C12 cycloalkyl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, CO-C7-C13 aralkyl, CO-C6-C14 aryl, R<3> and R<6> optionally being bonded together so as to form a ring in case X represents N-R<6>; R<1>, R<2>, and R<4> are identical or different and are selected among hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C3- C12 cycloalkyl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, C7-C13 aralkyl, C6-C14 aryl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, two adjacent radicals being optionally bonded together so as to form a ring; n represents an integer between 1 and 4; R<5> are identical or different and are selected among hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C3-C12 cycloalkyl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, C7-C13 aralkyl, C6-C14 aryl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted, R<5> being optionally bonded to R<4> or two adjacent radicals R<5> being bonded together so as to form a ring. |
