abstract |
Disclosed is a method for functionalizing isobutene polymers with terminal olefinic unsaturation by means of a treatment with the reaction product of a borane source having 0.5 to 1.8 equivalents per mol of borane and an alkene having a molecular weight of less than 250, or by treating the isobutene polymer with the borane source in the presence of the alkene. The reaction mixtures maintain a low viscosity and are easy to stir. |
