A process for producing benzyl (2S,3aR,7aS)-hexahydroindoline-2-carboxylate, characterized by heating a racemic modification consisting of (2S,3aR,7aS)-hexahydroindoline-2-carboxlyic acid and (2R,3aS,7aR)-hexahydroindoline-2-carboxylic acid, benzyl alcohol, and optically active 10-camphorsulfonic acid in a nonaqueous solvent to convert the racemic modification to benzyl esters, subjecting the diastereomeric salts of the benzyl esters with the optically active 10-camphorsulfonic acid which have been generated in the same reaction system to optical resolution based on a difference in solubility in an organic solvent, and then treating one of the isomers with a base. |
