abstract A vitreous antimicrobial agent that is added to various resins and not only exhibits high antimicrobial activity but also excels in color fastness and hot water resistance, and that can be easily produced on a commercial-level production volume; and an antimicrobial resin composition or antimicrobial product comprising the vitreous antimicrobial agent. In particular, a vitreous antimicrobial agent comprising, provided that the total of glass components is 100 mass%, 0.1 to 2 mass% of Ag2O, 40.5 to 49 mass% of ZnO, 6 to 9.5 mass% of SiO2, 30.5 to 39.5 mass% of B2O3, 2 to 10 mass% of alkaline earth metal oxide and 6 to 7.5 mass% of Na2O, optionally together with 0.01 to 5 mass% of CeO2; and an antimicrobial resin composition comprising the vitreous antimicrobial agent, or an antimicrobial product comprising the vitreous antimicrobial agent.
