Cubic boron nitride abrasive grains which are substantially of single crystals and exhibit a black color, and preferably exhibit a specific packing fraction; and a method for producing the above abrasive grains, which comprises adding a boron source to a raw material for synthesizing cubic boron nitride. The above cubic boron nitride abrasive grains can be used for providing a grindstone and a polishing cloth or paper which can achieve the improvement of the surface roughness of a material to be ground or polished, while maintaining good cutting quality thereof. |
