A method for producing a titanium-containing silicon oxide catalyst satisfying all of the requirements (1) to (3): (1) it has an average pore diameter of 10 Å or more, (2) the pores having a pore diameter of 5 to 200 Å account for 90 % or more of the total pore volume, (3) it has a specific pore volume of 0.2 cm3/g or more, which comprises the following first to forth steps: a first step of forming a solid containing catalyst components and a template through mixing by stirring a silica source, a titanium source and a template, a second step of removing the template from the solid material formed in the first step by subjecting the solid material to extraction with a solvent, a third step of substituting a solvent being substantially inert to a silylation agent to be used in the following forth step for the extracting solvent contained in the solid after the removal of the template from the second step, and a forth step of subjecting the solid from the third step to a silylation treatment, to form a silylated catalyst. |
