abstract A needle-insertion device (A1) used for collecting body fluids from a skin (Sk) by inserting an insertion element (21) into the skin (Sk). The needle-insertion device (A1) comprises a housing (1) with a hollow-cylinder portion (12) that is brought into contact with the skin (Sk), negative pressure-generating means (6) for raising the skin (sk) by generating a negative pressure inside the hollow-cylinder portion (12), and detecting means (5) for detecting the skin (Sk) having been raised to a predetermined height inside the hollow-cylinder portion (12).
