abstract A multilayer film structure including a base layer containing a film-forming thermoplastic polymer and a heat-seal layer containing a metallocene-catalyzed propylene copolymer, wherein the copolymer contains from 80 to 99.5 wt.% of propylene and from 0.5 to 20 wt.% of an α-olefin, based on the entire weight of the copolymer. Multilayer film structures according to the present invention exhibit excellent hot tack characteristics. In addition, film structures according to the invention allow for higher production rates of packages on both vertical and horizontal form-and-fill sealing equipment because the film need not be heated to as great a temperature to make a strong seal.
