abstract | A method for producing a liquid crystal display with high resolution and high display quality while preventing degradation of display performance such as contrast attributed to coagulation of spacer. The method includes a step of ejecting a spacer dispersion prepared by dispersing a spacer in a dispersion medium from the nozzle of an ink-jet apparatus onto a specific area of the surface of a substrate to place the spacer on the specific area on the substrate. At least 80 weight% of the dispersion medium used in the spacer dispersion has a boiling point of 200°C or less and an angle of contact with the substrate of 5° or less. In the above step, the spacer dispersion is ejected onto the specific area at ejection intervals S (μm) satisfying relation (1) shown below. S≥20×(V/D)1/2 ···················· (1) Where V represents the amount of spacer display (pL) ejected at a time from one nozzle and D represents the particle diameter (μm) of the spacer contained in the spacer dispersion. |
