titleOfInvention Coil assembly as magnetic field sensor for position determination
abstract The invention relates to a coil assembly serving as magnetic field sensor, comprising at least one toroid core coil (12) having a closed core (10) that is provided with a coil (11) and is made of a ferromagnetic material, which is amorphous, nanocrystalline or ferritic. The cross section of the core (10) has such a small size that the magnetic field of a magnet (13) that is moved in front thereof provokes a change in core permeability. An evaluation device (14) is used to detect the changing coil inductivity which is altered as a result of the change in core permeability. Very small, economical annular core coils can be used as magnetic field sensor even in a non-ferromagnetic, metal environment. In another embodiment, the toroid core coils are arranged in or on a cylinder wall of a fluid cylinder in order to detect the position of a piston in the interior of the cylinder.
