abstract An industrially advantageous process for producing N-(2-amino-1,2-dicyanovinyl)formamidine (AMD), which is represented by the formula (I) and useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals and medicines. (I) Diaminomaleonitrile (DAMN) is reacted with hydrogen chloride and hydrogen cyanide in an organic solvent to obtain AMD hydrochloride in a high yield.
