abstract |
Disclosed is a method for destroying microorganisms in aqueous technical systems or products for water-based technical applications by adding 0.001 to 5 percent by weight of a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer containing 30 to 100 molar percent of styrene sulfonic acid, 0 to 40 molar percent of an N-vinyllactam and/or N-vinylamine, and 0 to 30 molar percent of additional radically polymerizable monomers as a biocidal additive. Also disclosed is a method for protecting objects by applying an antimicrobially active aqueous composition comprising such an additive. |
