titleOfInvention Electowinning of metals
abstract An electrowinning system is described. It includes a cell which can be used in a metal loading phase and an electro winning phase. It includes three coaxial cylindrical electrodes including (i) a first inner elelctrode (236) which acts as a cathode during the metal loading phase and an anode during the electrowinning phase, (ii) a second intermediate electrode (238) which in the metal loading phase acts as an anode and (iii) a third outer electrode (240) which is connected to and acts as the first electrode. A set of collector electrodes (276) are located between the second and third electrodes and act as cathodes during the electrowinning phase when metal electro forms are formed thereon. This system is mainly intended for electrowinning gold but it can be used with other metals. Various modifications of the cell are described.
