An air purifier having a high air purification powers especially an air purifier which can efficiently remove floating dust, cigarette smoke, a harmful gas, etc. in the air. The air purifier comprises at least a discharge electrode (1), which can generate ions by discharging electricity, an opposing electrode (2) opposite to the discharge electrode, and a power supply (3) capable of applying a voltage between the discharge electrode and the opposing electrode to induce ion-generating electric discharge at the discharge electrode. A gas adsorbing material containing a high temperature charcoal carbonized at around 800 °C or higher, a low temperature charcoal carbonized at around 500 °C or lower, and an alginic acid or a salt thereof or a calcium oxide is used for the opposing electrode (2). |
