An organic luminescence device comprises an anode (1), an insulating or semiconductive inorganic thin-film layer (3) the energy gap of which is 2.7 eV or more, an organic compound layer (4) composed of one or more layers which include at least an organic luminescence layer and at least one of which contains an ortho-metallation metal complex, and a cathode (2) in order of mention. By providing the organic thin-film layer (3), the injection of holes into the luminescence layer is improved. The addition of an ortho-metallation metal complex enables use of a triplet exciton, thereby improving the luminous efficiency, luminance, and life. |
