abstract The present invention concerns novel drugs for use in combating various diseases. More particular, the invention concerns peptide nucleic acid (PNA) prodrugs and methods for their preparation and pharmaceutical use. The PNA prodrugs comprise a suitable carrier attached to the PNA by a cleavable linker, whereby the PNA prodrug exhibit enhanced transport across cell membranes with subsequent intracellular release of the PNA, improving the access of the PNA to potential cellular/nuclear targets.
