abstract A method of manufacturing a luminescent screen (22) assembly for a cathode rayntube (CRT) (10) is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly is formed on anninterior surface of a faceplate panel (12) of the CRT. The luminescent screennassembly includes a patterned light absorbing matrix (23) that defines a firstnset of fields (40), a second set of fields (42), and a third set of fields (44). Anblocking layer (46) is formed over the second set of fields and the third set ofnfields. A pigment layer is then applied to the first set of fields. The blockingnlayer is removed from the second set of fields and the third set of fields to formna color filter in the first set of fields. Another pigment may be applied to thensecond set of fields to form a color filter therein.
