abstract |
The present invention relates to methods of separation and quantification ofninorganic (Hg 2+ ) and organic (R-Hg + ) mercury compounds.nIn one embodiment, samples are collected and passed to an acidification step.nAcidified sample is then passed to a preconcentration step, where the Hg 2+ nand R-Hg + species are adsorbed onto a resin. After desorption, mercuryncontaining solution is passed to cation exchange column. Separations may benperformed on a column using thiourea as a mercury complexing agent. Possiblenquantification methods performed during analysis include ICP, ICP- mass spectroscopy,nAA, cold vapor atomic adsorption spectroscopy (CVAAS) and fluorescence. |
