It is intended to provide a highly active β-lactam acylase protein; a gene encodingnthis β-lactam acylase protein; a recombinant vector having this gene;na transformant containing this recombinant vector; and a process for producingna β-lactam antibiotic such as amoxicillin with the use of the β-lactamnacylase. A stenotrophomonas β-lactam acylase gene is obtained by cloningna β-lactam acylase gene of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia andndetermining its DNA base sequence and an amino acid sequence anticipated therefrom. |
