titleOfInvention Device for electrosurgically destroying body tissue
abstract The invention relates to an application device for applying a high frequency current for the thermal destruction of body tissue. Said device has a set of electrodes (7) comprising at least three active electrodes (1 - 6) which are electrically connected to the body tissue, a high frequency generator (17) which can be individually electrically connected to the active electrodes (1 - 6) and is used to produce a high frequency voltage, and a measuring device (13) for measuring the impedance of the tissue between the active electrodes (1 - 6). Furthermore, the application device comprises a selection device (15) for selecting a subset (19) from the set of electrodes (7), of at least two active electrodes (5, 6), the selection being carried out on the basis of the measured impedance. A control device (11) is embodied in such a way that the high frequency voltage is respectively applied between the active electrodes (5, 6) of the selected subset (19), such that a high frequency current flows through the body tissue between the selected active electrodes (5, 6).
