The invention relates to a method for overpainting multi-layer paints containing a chromophore and/or effect-producing base layer (A) which is produced from a water-based paint (A), and a clear layer (B) which is produced from a clear liquid lacquer (B). According to the inventive method, (1) the extract - which is free of covering pigments - of the water-based paint (A) or a corresponding water-based paint is applied to the multi-layer paints by pneumatic spray application, (2) the resulting layer (1) is vented and/or dried without being fully hardened, (3) the resulting vented and/or dried layer (2) is coated with the water-based paint (A) or a corresponding water-based paint by means of pneumatic spray application at a reduced spray pressure, (4) the resulting water-based paint layer (3) is vented and/or dried without being fully hardened, (5) the resulting vented and/or dried water-based paint layer (4) is coated with a clear liquid lacquer, and (6) the resulting clear lacquer layer (5), the water-based paint layer (4), the layer (1), and other optional non-hardened layers, are hardened together. |
