A technique relating to an analysis instrument, used for moving a movement component such as a sample or a reagent. A sample analysis method includes, in an analysis instrument (Y1), a first movement step for moving a movement component from a liquid introduction opening (61) to a first destination portion (511) in a flow passage (51) and a second movement step for moving the movement component from the first destination portion (511) to a second destination portion (512) in the flow passage (51). The analysis instrument (Y1) includes a diverging flow passage diverging from the first destination portion (511) and a first opening portion for exhausting gas inside the diverging flow passage. The first movement step is carried out by placing the inside of the diverging flow passage into communication with the outside through the first opening portion. The second movement step is carried out by providing a second opening portion on the downstream side from the second destination portion (512) in a flow direction of the movement component, the second opening portion bringing the inside of the diverging flow passage into communication with the outside. |
