abstract An optical switch array assembly for DNA probe light synthesis and hybridized DNA probe light detection is composed of a silicon substrate (101), an optical switch array disposed in the substrate (101), a glass plate (104) mounted on the top of the substrate (101), and a DNA probe (112) array disposed on the surface of the glass plate (104). The substrate (101) also contains a driving circuit for forcing each optical switch (102, 103) on and off and an addressing circuit for locating each optical switch (102, 103). A plurality of holes is disposed in the substrate (101) so that each hole is aligned with an optical switch (102, 103) and guides a light beam (105, 106) to a corresponding optical switch (102, 103).
