titleOfInvention Method of constructing germline chimeric animal
abstract It is intended to provide a method of efficiently constructing a germline chimeric animal and a method of conveniently constructing a heterozygous animal and a homozygous animal. More specifically speaking, embryonic stem cells (ES cells) are injected into an early embryo (i.e., a blastocyst) which cannot form germ cells due to a genetic cause to thereby construct a chimeric animal carrying germ cells originating in the ES cells thus injected. By crossing male and female heterozygotes obtained from the chimeric animal, a homozygote can be obtained. The chimeric animal thus obtained is highly useful in analyzing gene functions, etc.
