A honeycomb filter for exhaust gas decontamination that can reduce any thermal stress generated by the occurrence of local temperature change, and that is free from cracking and is excellent in strength and durability. In particular, a honeycomb filter for exhaust gas decontamination, comprising a plurality of columnar porous ceramic members bound by means of an adhesive layer, the columnar porous ceramic members each comprising a multiplicity of through-holes having bulkheads interposed therebetween and arranged in longitudinal direction in parallel relationship, the bulkheads interposed between the through-holes capable of functioning a particle trapping filter, characterized in that the thermal expansion coefficient (αL) of the adhesive layer and the thermal expansion coefficient (αF) of the porous ceramic members satisfy the relationship: 0.01 < |αL - αF|/αF < 1.0. |
