titleOfInvention | Lipase genes and proteins |
abstract | Lipase proteins play important role in tissue or plasma lipid and lipoprotein metabolism and function to hydrolize lipid such as triglycerides. Disease associates with lipase function indludes lipase deficiency, atherosclerosis, fatty liver disease and dyslipidemias, such as hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, mixed (combined) dyslipidemia, lipid or lipoprotein deficient states, and/or any other tissue or plasma disorders of lipid or lipoprotein metabolism. The invention describes two novel lipase proteins (LPDL and LPDLR) and the nucleic acids encoding them as well as the regulatory sequences controlling their gene expression. The invention relates to use of LPDL and/or LPDLR nucleic acid or their proteins in modulating cellular process in disease state or in normal energy homeostasis. The invention also relate to their modulators, antibodies, antisense oligonucleotides and diagnostic assays, the screening for mutations, gene therapy, use of their promoters to control gene expression, and their industrial use in food industry and oil and waste management. The invention also relates methods of drug screening for LPDL and LPDLR, their therapeutic use in humans and their use as pharmaceutical compositions. |
