titleOfInvention Fullerene epoxide and process for producing the same
abstract A fullerene epoxide which is represented by C60O3 and in which two epoxides are present on one six-membered ring and one epoxide is present either on a six-membered ring adjacent to the six-membered ring having two epoxides or on a six-membered ring separated from the six-membered ring having two epoxides by one six-membered ring. The fullerene epoxide has three epoxides and has symmetry with respect to C1, C2, or Cs. Also provided are: a process for producing the fullerene epoxide which comprises separating a fraction containing fullerene triepoxides only from a fullerene epoxide mixture with a silica gel and separating the fraction containing fullerene triepoxides only with a substance having π-π interaction; and a method of fullerene epoxide separation which comprises separating a fullerene epoxide mixture with a substance having π-π interaction.
