abstract |
A battery comprising an electrolyte having an improved chemical stability and exhibiting battery characteristics such as discharging capacity and charging/discharging cycle characteristics. The battery comprises a wound electrode body (20) wound with a strip positive electrode (21) and a negative electrode (22), with a separator (23) interposed there between. A light metal precipitates on the negative electrode (22) during charging. The capacitance of the negative electrode (22) includes the capacitance component by the occlusion and desorption of the light metal and a capacitance component by the precipitation and dissolution of the light metal and is represented by the sum of these components. The separator (23) is impregnated with an electrolyte wherein a lithium salt is dissolved in a solvent. The electrolyte contains vinyl ethylene carbonate or divinyl ethylene carbonate, resulting in an improvement in chemical stability. |
