abstract The present invention relates generally to the use of a flavonoid glycone alone or in combination with a therapeutically effective amount of another agent such as an anti-keloid agent to inhibit, prevent or otherwise suppress keloid fibroblast proliferation and/or collagen synthesis. The subject invention further contemplates a method of ameliorating the effects of keloids such as keloid-mediated heavy or excessive scarring by the systemic or topical application of a flavonoid glycone alone or in combination with another agent such as an anti-keloid agent. The present invention is particularly directed to the use of quercetin as well as derivatives and homolog thereof. The present invention further provides medicaments comprising a flavonoid glycone such as quercetin and one or more other anti-keloid agents and/or agents which inhibit one or more components in the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signalling cascade. Such medicaments may be in the form of a single composition or a multi-part pharmaceutical pack where the active ingredients are admixed prior to administration.
