A system and method deploys a bronchial obstruction device (130) in an air passageway (48) communicating with a lung portion (56) to be at least temporarily collapsed. The system includes a conduit (70) configured to be passed down a trachea (28), into a bronchus (32) communicating with the trachea (28) and into the air passageway (48) communicating with the lung portion (56). The system further includes a capsule (100) dimensioned to house the bronchial obstruction device (130) and to be advanced down an internal lumen (122) of the conduit (70) into the air passageway. The capsule (100) has a break-away distal end (102) configured to release the bronchial obstruction device (130) for deployment in the air passageway (48) upon being pushed from the capsule (100) by a pusher member (140). |
