The invention relates to an identification system comprising a reader and at least one label. The reader identifies tags, for example radio frequency (RF) tags. The system divides a number zone into n compartments, each associated with m unique bits of the number zone, the latter containing the identification codes of the labels. An order is issued to test v bits in the number area. A response is received from a label, said response occurring when a first part of an identification code of the label corresponds to the v bits of the number zone, a synchronization of the response corresponds to a particular locker and m bits unique associated with the particular locker correspond to a second part of the identification code. |
